Description Position Summary: The Lumber & Firewood Sales and Customer Service Person will support Treeline’s sawmill, woodyard, service center, and materials operations by maximizing sales of lumber, mill by-products, firewood, and aggregate materials while providing excellent, ongoing customer service. This position serves as a primary point of contact for customers by answering product questions, taking orders, coordinating scheduling and deliveries, and ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment. Products supported include standard and custom sawn lumber, mill by-products, cut and split firewood, tree-length firewood, gravel, sand, woodchips, loam, crushed asphalt, and other related materials produced or sold by Treeline. In addition, this role assists the Parts Counter by supporting basic parts inquiries, locating and issuing parts, processing sales transactions, and coordinating with internal teams to meet customer needs. The position works closely with production, yard, delivery, service, and sales teams to support efficient daily operations across departments. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a customer-first mindset to successfully support Treeline’s diverse product offerings and evolving customer demands. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Safety & Compliance Contribute to developing and maintaining a safe working environment. Comply with all OSHA regulations and Treeline safety policies. Wear required PPE at all times. Sales & Customer Service Provide excellent, ongoing customer service to all customers and internal team members. Actively promote and sell lumber, mill by-products, and firewood products to individuals, businesses, and contractors. Identify and develop new and existing customers throughout Maine and beyond. Learn and maintain strong knowledge of all product offerings, including hardwoods, softwoods, firewood types, and use-case benefits. Thrive in a sales environment and take pride in building long-term customer relationships. Manage difficult customer situations professionally to achieve positive outcomes. Order Management & Coordination Take customer orders and ensure accuracy in product selection and quantities. Schedule deliveries and coordinate with drivers and yard personnel. Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Assist with paperwork, invoicing, and record-keeping duties in a timely and accurate manner. Communicate clearly with production and loading crews regarding customer needs. Operations Support Assist with loading firewood, lumber, and by-products as needed, including operating or substituting for loader/fork equipment when trained. Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area. Support sales team members as needed based on workload and availability. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and daily operational needs. Education, Experience & Qualifications: Required High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Driver’s License Eligible to work in the United States Minimum 5 years of general work experience Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Sales experience (lumber, firewood, construction, or related industries) Construction or building materials experience Basic mechanical or equipment knowledge CPR / First Aid Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of workplace safety practices Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to learn new products and systems quickly Strong organizational and time-management skills Comfortable using computers and sales/order systems (or willing to learn) Ability to pivot with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment Self-motivated, positive, and solution-oriented Enjoys building relationships with customers, contractors, and communities Physical & Environmental Requirements Sitting: up to 50% Standing: up to 50% Walking: up to 70% Driving: up to 10% Lifting: up to 50 lbs. using proper body mechanics Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and use of both hands Work indoors and outdoors in all temperatures Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels (
