HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?

You have experience in polymer synthesis and vitrimer materials? You want to develop novel polymeric materials for impact-resistant composite structures? Then we have a new opening for you! The Functional Polymeric and Particulate Materials (FPPM) Unit at LIST is looking for a passionate postdoctoral researcher for a 24-month contract.
You will be working at the forefront of novel polymeric materials and vitrimer synthesis, characterization and performance assessment in sandwich composites. In the framework of a project funded by the European Defence Agency (EDA), we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in polymer chemistry and polymeric materials.

You will be mainly in charge of:

  • Conducting a state-of-the-art review of impact-resistant polymers
  • Understanding the mechanisms of impact resistance in existing materials and their relevance to vitrimer systems
  • Ensuring the production and characterization of bio-based epoxy and benzoxazine-based vitrimers, with a focus on scalability
  • Disseminating research outcomes through publications, conferences, and other scientific channels

EDUCATION

  • PhD in polymer science / engineering, materials science / engineering, composite science / engineering, chemistry / chemical engineering or a related field

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Proven expertise in polymers synthesis and vitrimer development
  • Knowledge of thermoset and composite processing / properties is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the impact properties of polymers/composites is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and a strong team-oriented mindset—both within the internal team and with external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, French is a plus
