BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: WFP Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at Egypt CO is seeking a fellow to support the ongoing field monitoring activities and the unit's required administrative and logistics tasks. M&E in WFP aims to monitor the progress and efficiency of the different WFP programmes. The fellowship provides an opportunity for qualified candidates to have a better understanding of M&E function across WFP different programme areas and improve M&E skills by supporting and shadowing M&E technical team in the CO. WFP Programmes include: Crisis responses and Refugees programme, School-based programmes, Nutrition programmes, Climate adaptation and Resilience programmes. One key monitoring activity that will be supported by the fellow is monitoring of Food security of crisis-affected populations in addition to the support with the other previously mentioned programmes. ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support with development/adjustments of data collection tools (e.g., surveys and focus group discussions) using digitalized tools and platforms. Support with regular quantitative monitoring activities, including preparations of datasets, sampling and field data collection process. Support with data quality checks and verification exercises for the ongoing data collection. Support with the qualitative monitoring activities including logistics support and qualitative transcriptions. Provide business support for M&E field missions including required administrative tasks and travel arrangements. Support in the facilitation of third-party monitoring activities in the field during data collection. Shadow M&E technical team during data analysis and reporting and provide support whenever needed. Support in the preparation of Monitoring briefs/reports with key findings. Support enhancement of M&E unit knowledge management by maintaining records and documentation of monitoring activities following established systems. DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT: Accurate Data Collection: Complete and verify data collected from WFP program sites, ensuring accuracy and consistency in databases. Regular Progress Reports: Contribute to the development of short progress reports that highlight key M&E findings and trends in program performance. Data Visualizations: Assist in the creation of clear and basic visual summaries (charts/graphs) to support M&E findings for presentations and reports. Field Visit Insights: Document insights from field visits, providing feedback on program implementation and areas for improvement. Organized M&E Files: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of data, reports, and field observations, ensuring easy access for future reference. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Education: Master's and PhD students or graduates, researchers or professors with preferred background in social science, food security or nutrition fields. Experience: Advanced academic knowledge or technical experience in data collection and analysis and interest in projects that aim for zero hunger. Basic data analysis Good report writing Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Very good oral and written English skills Data visualization is an asset (not mandatory) Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to perform in a multi-functional team. Knowledge & Skills: Basic understanding of M&E concepts and tools. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with data management tools (e.g., Excel). Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Eagerness to learn and develop skills in Monitoring and Evaluation. Ability to work well in a team and support various tasks as needed. Languages: Fluency in English (Level C). Intermediate knowledge of any other official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Portuguese) is an asset.
