REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in M&E quantity surveying, ideally within a consultancy environment.
  • Experience working on commercial, residential, or technical projects, such as data centres, is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of M&E systems and their financial implications in construction projects.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) and cost management tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quantity surveying software such as CostX or similar.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a talented and experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team at a leading construction consultancy based in London. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and high-profile projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, data centres, and more.
As an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works on construction projects. You will work closely with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cost Management:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and budgets for M&E packages.
  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring value for money and adherence to budgets.
  • Conduct cost analysis for M&E works and provide advice on financial implications to clients.
  • Manage interim valuations, final accounts, and payment certifications for M&E contractors.
  • Procurement and Contract Administration:
  • Assist in the procurement of M&E subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and quality standards.
  • Administer M&E contracts, including drafting and reviewing contract documents.
  • Assess and manage variations, claims, and change orders related to M&E elements.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and maintain accurate records.
  • Project Delivery Support:
  • Collaborate with project teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to coordinate M&E activities.
  • Attend project meetings, providing updates on cost, progress, and risks for M&E works.
  • Monitor the progress of M&E installations on-site, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or risks related to M&E costs and delivery.
  • Risk and Compliance Management:
  • Identify potential risks to M&E costs and delivery, developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure all M&E works comply with health and safety standards, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare detailed cost reports, forecasts, and project updates for clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including cost breakdowns, change orders, and final accounts.
