As TSA Riley grows, we are beginning to work in new sectors and offer new service offerings to our clients. To deliver on our growth strategy, it is critical that we expand our internal mechanical and electrical team.
Therefore, we have an exciting opening for a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Quantity Surveyor capable of performing a Project QS role, to join our team in London. We have offices in both Croydon and Central London (Blackfriars) and the successful candidate could work from either office to suit their convenience. Hybrid working is also standard practice at TSA Riley.
As a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, you can expect to use your skills and expertise on projects spanning across the whole of the built environment giving you exposure to M&E related work across a variety of sectors.
You will report into the Associate Director and work closely with them to support the business by providing specialist M&E cost management services across a portfolio projects.
With the M&E team and TSA Riley both expected to experience significant growth in the future, this role comes with fantastic career opportunities for promotions and increased responsibilities for ambitious candidates seeking to progress into senior management positions.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must hold a formal qualification such as a degree or similar equivalent in a relevant subject such as Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Have good technical expertise relating specifically to familiar M&E systems relating to projects within the built environment.
- The ability to carry out a full range of pre and post contract duties as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Prior experience acting in a similar quantity surveying / cost management role for a cost management consultancy would be advantageous, however we would also welcome applications from candidates who have a main contractor or subcontractor background with clear desire to transition into a consultancy side role.
- Strong reporting skills and the ability to follow leading industry systems and procedures.
- Working towards their chartership with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is desirable. However, we are willing to consider applications from candidates who meet the above criteria and have desire to become chartered, but have not yet begun their APC diary.
- Excellent numerical and literacy skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a client facing role.

Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the client achieves their stated objectives through close teamwork and proactive cost control
- Preparing financial reports
- Monitoring the projects status and providing reports on progress
- Provide cost on design solutions
- Managing the tender process
- Carrying out feasibility studies
- Administer cost/variation procedures
- Carry out full contract surveying duties including feasibility and pre-contract estimating, establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes
- Manage all aspects of the contractual and financial side of core M&E projects
