Description
We’re seeking a Lead Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer to serve as a technical leader for a client in Reston, VA. In this direct hire role, you’ll research, design, and architect enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 solutions—driving secure, scalable, and innovative adoption across the organization. You’ll work closely with technology leaders and business stakeholders to enhance collaboration, security, and productivity through platforms like Teams, Copilot, SharePoint, and related services. What You’ll Do Research & Innovate: Evaluate emerging Microsoft 365 capabilities and identify opportunities aligned with business needs. Architect Solutions: Design enterprise-scale M365 architecture and deployment strategies ensuring security, scalability, and sustainability. Lead Governance: Drive technical planning for Copilot and other AI-powered solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem. Establish Standards: Provide guidance and governance for SharePoint sites, Power Automate workflows, and Power Apps—setting best practices rather than building solutions directly. Document & Deliver: Prepare detailed architecture designs, deployment plans, and operational handoff materials. Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with operations throughout the lifecycle for successful deployments and knowledge transfer. Stay Ahead: Monitor Microsoft roadmaps, service health, and industry trends to anticipate impacts and opportunities. Solve Complex Challenges: Investigate escalated technical issues and provide research-backed recommendations. Mentor & Influence: Guide team members on architectural thinking, documentation standards, and research methods. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. 4+ years of experience in enterprise Microsoft 365 architecture or systems engineering. Deep understanding of M365 architecture, security, and compliance frameworks. Experience planning deployments for tools like Defender, Purview, and other security services. Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with IT operations, change management, and operational handoff best practices. Preferred Qualifications Microsoft 365 certification (Associate level or higher). Proven ability to research, evaluate, and document architectural decisions. Experience with Azure administration, Intune/UEM, IAM, and project tracking tools (Jira/Atlassian).
