Description The Medical Assistant I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting providers with patient care and treatment. This role focuses on patient intake, basic clinical support, and administrative assistance to ensure efficient clinic operations. The MA I will also provide back-up support to the receptionist as needed. Essential Functions: Conduct patient intake, including vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information. Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures as requested. Perform CLIA-waived testing (e.g., dipstick urine, accu-check, pregnancy tests, etc.). Make phone calls to patients for follow-up, lab results, or appointment reminders. Schedule patient referrals and coordinate medical record requests. Ensure providers have necessary patient records, lab results, and diagnostic information prior to visits. Maintain exam rooms and order clinical supplies as needed. Provide back-up coverage for the receptionist when required. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Required: High School Diploma or GED BLS/CPR Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire) Ability to administer medications and vaccines by injection Preferred: Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Previous experience in a clinic or healthcare setting Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records (EHR) systems Skills & Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service orientation Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail and strong organizational skills Professional demeanor and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
