Description

As a Machining Technician Apprentice, the successful applicant will get the opportunity to learn about a variety of machine tools whilst studying for their Machining Technician L3 Apprenticeship. You will be based at Callatech’s site in Worthing under the guidance of experienced machinists and technicians to develop the skills necessary for a career in machining. This role combines hands-on experience with formal learning, allowing the apprentice to gain a deep understanding of machining processes, techniques, and tools used to manufacture precision parts and components.

    Working Week: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week with 4 days on site and one day at College
    Salary: £15,704 per annum in line with the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (please see below for further details)
    Qualifications: GCSE Maths and English minimum grade 4 required to apply for this apprenticeship

Responsibilities
  • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure that parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards
  • Learn about and perform tasks such as cutting, shaping, drilling, grinding, and polishing materials.
  • Learn to set up, operate and maintain machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and CNC (Computer Numerical Control equipment.
  • Ensure parts are made to precise specifications and tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions
  • Perform routine maintenance
  • Understanding quality control and inspection methods
  • Verifying dimensions and quality of the components being produced.
    This training path provides a solid foundation for a career in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and engineering, where precision machining is critical.
