WE ARE LOOKING FOR A MACHINE ASSISTANT (AUTO-MAIL ASSISTANT) TO JOIN PARAGON’S DAGENHAM SITE, WORKING PERMANENT NIGHT SHIFTS.

As a Machine Assistant, you’ll support Machine Operators with the preparation, running, and completion of enclosing jobs. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help keep machines supplied, ensure jobs are set up correctly, and carry out quality checks. It’s an excellent entry-level opportunity with full training provided and the potential to progress into machine operating roles.
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 18:00 – 06:00 (48 hours per week).
Salary: £30,476.16 per annum plus 15% night shift allowance.
Location: Dagenham.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in a production, mailing, or print environment is desirable but not essential — full training provided.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in machine operation.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently under pressure.

Responsibilities
  • Support Machine Operators with setup and running of enclosing equipment.
  • Prepare and load materials such as letters, inserts, envelopes, and marketing collateral.
  • Replenish machines during runs to maintain continuous workflow.
  • Carry out quality checks to ensure correct collation and addressing.
  • Remove finished mail packs from machines, stack, and prepare for dispatch.
  • Clear paper jams and keep machines running smoothly under operator supervision.
  • Assist with routine machine checks and report issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area.
  • Work flexibly as part of the enclosing team to meet tight deadlines.
