Description

Summary/objective: The Manufacturing Engineer will drive manufacturing improvement projects and programs. This position will develop processes, tooling, manufacturing instructions, and equipment to support customer requirements and production needs. The position will report to the Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor, often taking additional direction from Manufacturing and Quality. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. * Responsible for the design, development, modification and implementation of equipment and processes to aid in the overall manufacturing process. * Provide technical support to manufacturing and improve productivity and reduce costs. * Responsible for the preparation of manufacturing methods for products and prototypes to document manufacturing requirements. * Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing manufacturing plans. * Interface with various depts. to collaborate on Best Practices. * Ensure proper use of all safety regulations and equipment. * Interface with production planning/production control to ensure commitments, schedules, and obligations are met. * Assist procurement in supplier selection and validation of supplier process capabilities and process controls. * May perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload. Qualifications Supervisory Responsibilities: Limited: Engineering guidance to production teams Preferred Education and Experience: * A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school in related field required, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or Process Engineering. * 2-4 years Engineering experience in a Manufacturing setting. * Strong analytic and communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to effectively communicate with other functional departments. * Demonstrated computer skills (MS Excel, database development, process flow software, CAD (Onshape/Solidworks software). * Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, and/or general engineering problem solving skills. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Excellent computer skills; ability to comprehend new hardware / software applications. * Ability to write a concise report of findings. * Ability to speak, read, and write the English language. * Requires the ability to interpret and communicate engineering plans and specifications. * Sound understanding of engineering theory, design verification, and troubleshooting. * Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, machining, and quality production methods. Physical Demands: * Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. * Employee regularly sits while using upper body movements including arms, hands and fingers operating computer equipment and other office equipment. * Employee occasionally stands and/or walks to go into meetings or for discussions with other administrative / office personnel. * Employee occasionally reaches with hands and arms in moving tools equipment and/or products as needed.
