OmniSync is a recipient of eight federal innovation contracts, including SBIR Phase III commercialization contracts, and two subcontracts to prime contractors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced, passionate pioneer in technology - a solutions builder, a roll-up-your-sleeves technologist who wants to thrive in a daily collaborative environment. This position requires access to information and technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. Due to our work with the U.S. Federal Government all candidates must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.
The Machine Learning Engineer should be a NLP specialist willing to join a high-impact team. This is highly challenging work that will engage your deep understanding of data engineering and ML/AI algorithms to deliver on confidential projects. You should be comfortable with prototyping and testing, and be able to quickly iterate and optimize your algorithms. You should have a keen interest in staying up to date with the latest technologies and understanding the implications for our industry. You should also be a great collaborator who enjoys working with a diverse team of engineers, designers, and business partners.
You will be responsible for developing robust automation for data ingestion pipelines, innovative data-driven discovery techniques on heterogenous high-dimensional data sets, researching and implementing ML/AI based solutions, high performance computing, and MLOps. Experience with modern NLP techniques and concepts including sequence-to-sequence models, distributed representations, attention-based models, LLM fine-tuning, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Computational Linguistics.
  • Requirements solid fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, and machine learning theory with a minimum of 3 years of commercial experience (or equivalent) in natural language processing, understanding, Transformers, LLMs, Federated Learning, Transfer Learning, Generative AI, Graph Neural Networks.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Python, SQL, NoSQL, Pandas, and Numpy
  • Knowledge in Database Modeling, Normalization, Indexing and Query Optimization
  • Knowledge in data processing (batch, stream), ETL/ELT pipelines
  • English fluency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 USD; Depending on Experience
Hybrid: Must be able and willing to be in our office in San Diego, 92123 at least twice a week with additional days as needed for innovative collaboration.

Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Contribute significantly to automating data preprocessing, cleaning, and feature engineering to ensure high-quality datasets that fuel the success of our models and applications.
  • Design and implement NLP models and techniques for text generation, information retrieval, information extraction, named entity recognition, topic modeling.
  • Document experiments findings and results with supporting summary statistics for peer discussion and review.
  • Write production and deployment code, iterate deployed models for optimal performance and inference speed.
  • Fine-tune and serve LLMs to help build best-in-class solutions on NLP and Generative AI.
  • Stay up to date with recent advancements in NLP and large language models, applying novel techniques and methodologies to improve our models.
  • Build and maintain a production-ready platform to run models in parallel and A/B test
  • Experience in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data warehousing is a plus
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Performs other duties, research and special projects, as assigned.
