MACHINE MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Location: Garden City, NY
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay: $110,000 – $125,000 annually
Shift: 1st Shift | 40+ hours per week

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Machine & Equipment Repair: CNCs, ovens, chillers, compressors, hydraulics, pneumatics, automated systems.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, disassemble, and repair production equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform preventative maintenance including alignments, lubrication, coolant changes, etc.
  • Electrical/Controls (secondary focus):
  • Knowledge of AC/DC systems (24V–480V).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Experience with ladder logic, PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with heating systems, air handlers, condensers, and evaporators.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance (Lockout/Tagout, Arc Flash, HazCom, RCRA, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required with equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years of experience in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Background in general maintenance of manufacturing machines and process equipment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Active role requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
  • Some fine manipulation and repetitive motion may be required
Responsibilities

A growing aerospace manufacturing facility is seeking a Machine Maintenance Engineer to support production through proactive machine and facility maintenance.
This is a hands-on role—not an HVAC or facilities-only position. The right candidate will bring strong experience with manufacturing machinery such as CNC machines and vacuum braze ovens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to Maintenance Manager; ensure safety is the top priority in all work.
  • Perform repairs, installations, and upkeep of facilities and production equipment.
  • Support production by monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing process and production equipment.
  • Assist in designing and implementing maintenance procedures.
  • Track budgets, expenses, and perform inspections to identify and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors for parts, repairs, and project completion.
  • Facilitate and support facility audits with property insurance company.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
