Job Title: Machine Maintenance Manager
Location: Garden City, NY (onsite – some regional relocation support available)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Full-time, permanent
Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000 (DOE)
Shift: 1st shift, 40+ hours/week
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder required (due to U.S. Government contracts)

Position Overview
The Machine Maintenance Manager will oversee repairs, installations, preventative maintenance, and overall upkeep of manufacturing machines and facilities in an aerospace production environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise with CNC machines and industrial ovens, along with leadership capability to guide a small team of 3 maintenance technicians.
The successful candidate will ensure safe operations, maximize uptime, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance processes.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5+ years of direct experience maintaining CNC machines (minimum requirement).
  • Experience managing or supervising machine maintenance teams in a manufacturing setting (Manager candidates must have 5+ years managing maintenance of CNC machines).
  • Knowledge of industrial ovens for heat treat (vacuum braze ovens preferred).
  • Familiarity with PLC/automation systems (troubleshooting, ladder logic, VFDs, instrumentation).
  • Background in general plant equipment: chillers, compressors, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
  • Strong safety knowledge: LOTO, Arc Flash, Machine Guarding, HazCom, RCRA, etc.
  • Not a fit: HVAC/facilities-only backgrounds (corporate buildings, custodial, etc.). Candidates must come from a manufacturing maintenance environment with CNC machines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise 3 maintenance technicians; coach and develop team members.
  • Maintain CNC machines, industrial ovens, and automated equipment for production.
  • Design and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair production and process equipment.
  • Oversee contractors/vendors for specialized repairs and negotiate maintenance contracts.
  • Track maintenance budgets, expenses, and productivity metrics.
  • Facilitate audits and ensure compliance with safety and insurance requirements.
  • Support a proactive safety culture across the production floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred; will accept equivalent training/experience.
  • 5–10 years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, and repair CNC and industrial equipment.
  • Experience reading and modifying electrical prints/schematics.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and maintenance software (CMMS experience preferred).
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and climbing.
  • Hands-on work with tools and machinery daily.
