POSITION PURPOSE: Under direction of the Production Supervisor, Operator A operates machines to manufacture a variety of standard parts and details to close tolerances and finish requirements. Full-Time (Custom Part-Time Shifts Available for Qualified Machinists) Salary Range: $22-$30 Hourly DOE Shifts Available: M-Th or Tu-Fr 2nd shift: 3:00 pm – 1:00 am ($2.25 shift premium) Machines you will work with: Wickman Acme Davenport ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Receive work assignments; drawings, sequence of operations and machine requirements such as feeds, speeds, dimensions and tolerances Adjusts and operate machines to perform progressive machining operations Select and prepare correct part(s) and load into machine Operate machines as required through manipulating levers, hand wheels and by engaging power, adjusting flow of coolant, observing operations, checking dimensions and adjusting as necessary Remove burs from parts and chips from machine after operation RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deems necessary. Employees are and will be held accountable for all duties of the job. Perform close tolerance machining operations such as centering, drilling, reaming, tapping, turning, milling, deburr at back side, file and/or sand Operate multiple machines Operations may vary with approval of supervisor to compensate for variations in material and machining operations Dress, grind or sharpen tools as necessary Lubricate machines as needed with oil, grease and coolant Work from drawings specifications and job layouts using a variety of measuring instruments Make machine and tool adjustments as needed Obtain and return tools as required Learn to make offsets and change tooling Maintain cutting tools in proper working order Checks parts per specification and ensure proper forms are completed including part tags, process sheets and timecards Must be quality conscious and continuously look for quality improvements REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
