JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 or more years setting up and operating custom cable production machinery (extrusion) experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude & able to read & follow production paperwork and drawings
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuit considered an asset
  • Mathematical skills
  • Ability to problem solve and able to react quickly and safely to a situation
  • Able to stay organized in a fastpaced environment with little supervision
  • Capable of multitasking when operating specialized machinery
  • Able to work shifts
  • Fluency in English.
  • Able to work with Microsoft Office tools e.g. Excel, Word.
Responsibilities
  • Measure and examine extruded products to ensure they meet all quality specifications, and that they are free of defects
  • Select machine dies and parts according to the setup procedures for each individual production run
  • Perform safety checks on equipment prior to operations
  • Start machines at the beginning of each operating day or shift as appropriate
  • Set controls to regulate size, air pressure, vacuum, cooling systems, temperature and speed of extrusion on each production run
  • Install all dies, machine screws, and other components for new production runs as instructions in the workflow indicate
  • Maintain proper tool storage and basic maintenance
  • Change dies according to the procedures and order of projects in the workflow
  • Clean work areas and assist in training new employees doing the same
  • Troubleshoot operations when machines operate out of specification
  • Troubleshoot machines as necessary and depending on the machine configuration
  • Maintaining an organized inventory of raw materials related to this machine center.
  • Following all the rules related to 5S/Kaizen procedures
