ABOUT YOU: THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 1-2 years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing;
• Basic math/measurement skills (an asset);
• Ability to learn various types of manufacturing equipment;
• Ability to work physically – lift/move up to 50lbs;
• Willingness and capacity to work outside in varying weather conditions, and perform physical work;
• Good communication skills, Multi-tasking and a strong capacity for teamwork.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:

• Full-time, permanent position
• Day shift : 6:00 AM until 2:00pm
• Working outdoors in a fast paced active production facility
• The daily use of personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe work boots, gloves, helmets, and hearing protection, will be required.
• Fabrication may require some repetitive tasks.
• Moderate lifting is required.
• Overtime hours may be required to meet operational demands.
• Must be familiar with and adhere to shop safety policies and procedures.

Here are the main responsibilities for this machine operator role in Port Coquitlam:

• Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
• Operate various bending machines (including table benders, double benders, and auto-benders) to shape reinforcing steel bars as required.
• Operate an overhead crane to load and unload inventory and move fabricated rebar in and out of the shop.
• Follow safe work procedures for specific equipment as outlined in the company’s safety manual.
• Work effectively as part of a team to maintain productivity and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required
