  Calender Operator I – Reading, PA  Hours are 10:30pm – 7:00am Sunday Evening through Friday Morning.   Operates Calender and Extrusion machines to efficiently heat, mix, extrude and press plastic into a calendered film of various thicknesses. Employees may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.     Essential Responsibilities: * Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.  * Maintain department housekeeping and 5S program requirements. Ensure that the production area is cleaned up for arriving shift. * Track and input daily production information in computer shop floor data collection system to maintain inventory accuracy.  * Perform timely machine and labor inputs; changing from setup, run and downtime as it occurs. * Follow Good Documentation Practices rules in alignment with QMS / EMS requirements. * Operates and monitors material transfer system. Regulates feed rates according to production demand. * Completes necessary paperwork and reports pertaining to production, quality control, and inventory control measures. * Assists with other tasks as necessary to help maintain efficient production. * Communicate effectively with other shifts regarding machine, quality and priority concerns. Effectively utilize shift overlaps to convey critical information. * Review calibration status (expiration dates, condition, and legibility of calibration stickers) of devices used to measure product conformity. * Effectively operate winder. * Demonstrates the ability to work in a team environment.  * Perform all work procedures in accordance with safety standards. * Perform all work procedures according to established Quality Management & Environmental Management Systems.   Essential Skills:  * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Forklift Certification. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
