POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Operator / Linisher plays a vital role in supporting Savaria’s production operations. This dual-function role is responsible for operating crimping and insertion machines and performing surface finishing tasks on metal components. The individual will ensure components are processed efficiently, meet quality specifications, and are properly prepared for the next stages of manufacturing.

  • High School Diploma and one - three months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must have the ability to perform all tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, managers, other stakeholders.
  • Should possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
  • Follow instructions from Material Data Sheets under the guidance of the Lead Hand.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine part placement and assembly requirements.
  • Load and secure components using appropriate fixtures, clamps, or tooling.
  • Operate crimping and insertion machines, monitoring cycles via HMI interfaces to ensure proper function and safety.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment, including cleaning and replacing worn parts.
  • Set up and operate linishing machines, belt grinders, and other abrasive tools to finish and smooth metal surfaces.
  • Remove weld splatter, burrs, rust, and other surface imperfections to achieve a clean, uniform finish.
  • Complete cab assembly operations and final testing as needed.
  • Assemble components using bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
  • Install and connect associated control wiring and manual/electric door options.
  • Report any defective parts, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation in accordance with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.
