MACHINE OPERATOR (MACHINE SHOP) (Selma, CA) Location: 7736 E. Springfield Ave., Selma, CA 93662 Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Position: Hourly $18.50 Per Hour Payroll: Bi-Weekly Opened Until Filled Job Summary Responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools to metallic and nonmetallic work pieces while providing support to the production team. Responsibilities and Duties Reads and studies blueprints, work orders and plans for product specification Selects, positions and secures tools in holder Set specific feeds, speeds and depth of cuts Control valves to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tools/work pieces Observes proper machine operation Performs daily machine maintenance Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. Clean and maintain the work area and equipment, including tools. Performs routine inspections of completed pieces Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations Qualifications and Skills High School Diploma or equivalent Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred and 1-2 years Machine Operator experience Ability to work in a fast pace environment Team-oriented with strong communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others to work as a team. Must have the ability to perform accurate measurements and basic arithmetic. Must be able to use a measuring tape, caliper and other measuring tools. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to work independently, detail-oriented with strong communication skills. Attention to detail Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting, twisting, and bending. Standing: Frequent to continuous Sitting: Occasional to frequent Walking: Occasional to frequent Bending/Stooping/Squatting/Kneeling: Occasional to frequent Lifting and Carrying: Up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The employee operates in a loud noise level environment. This position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and uses standard heavy equipment and tools. The employee must wear a respirator and hard hat (when applicable), approved safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times.
