Description This position will oversee daily operations in the machine shop, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality CNC and manual machining while leading and mentoring the team, coordinating workflow, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining strong communication across departments to meet production goals and customer satisfaction. WHAT YOU'LL DO Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction Supervise and coordinate daily shop activities including CNC and manual machining operations Lead and mentor machinists, programmers, and support staff to ensure productivity and quality standards Review and optimize CAD/CAM programs for efficiency and accuracy Schedule jobs, assign tasks, and manage work orders to meet production deadlines Troubleshoot machining and programming issues, providing technical guidance to team members Maintain equipment, tooling, and shop cleanliness in compliance with safety standards Communicate effectively with engineering, production, and quality departments Monitor and report on job progress, labor hours, and material usage Ensure adherence to ISO or other relevant quality standards Prepare quotes and assist in job costing and budgeting Requirements WHAT YOU'LL NEED High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred 3+ years of experience in CNC and manual machining, with supervisory or lead role experience Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM) Strong understanding of G-code, tooling, feeds/speeds, and machining principles Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings Skilled in troubleshooting equipment and machining issues Basic math and geometry skills for machining calculations Strong organizational and communication skills Experience with ERP systems and job tracking software is a plus Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or evenings IMPORTANT INFORMATION While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Standing, walking and meeting activities are required frequently throughout the workday. Employee must be able to process paperwork and utilize office equipment (including personal computer, phone, etc.). A large portion of the day is spent communicating orally in person and by phone. Normal sight or corrected vision is required to read documents and use standard computer terminals. Ability to move around continuously throughout the service department. Work may involve moving or lifting of light to moderately heavy materials or equipment requiring physical strength and agility to withstand the strain of manual work.
