Our brand promise – when you need to be sure – underscores our commitment to trust, integrity and reliability SGS’s C&P (Consumer and Products) services help businesses ensure product safety, quality, and compliance through testing, inspection, certification, and auditing—covering everything from manufacturing to distribution across various consumer goods sectors Job Description Job Title: Machinery Safety Engineer Job Type: Permanent Job Location: Remote working Main Purpose of Role To perform inspection/testing/conformity assessments and formally report non conformities to CE/UKCA machinery compliance, using Machinery Directive 2006/42EC, The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 (as amended) and Harmonised/Designated Standards (A-type, B-type, C-type) on a variety of industrial machinery and assemblies of machinery. To carry out certification activities for machinery under Approved Body scheme and ISO/IEC 17065:2012 accredited QMS. To perform PUWER 98 assessments at client's premises and provide thorough reporting with suggested corrective actions. To provide client facing services nationally, EU and globally in accordance with the requirements of the Machinery Department specifically and SGS UK generally. Qualifications Essential Working knowledge of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 (as amended), EN ISO 12100, EN 60204-1, EN ISO 13849-1, EN ISO 4413/EN ISO 4414, main A,B,C-type standards. PUWER 98/UWED. Ability to read electrical schematic, pneumatic schematic, hydraulic schematic, P&ID and engineering drawings. Use of test and measuring equipment for electrical and mechanical validation purposes. Desirable Previous experience in an industrial environment covering a broad range of machinery and associated equipment, specifically safety related. Knowledge/understanding of other main EU Directives/UK Regulations i.e. PED, ATEX, LVD, EMC. Wiring regulation BS 7271.
