Description
Position Summary: Move or rig items (typically large machinery & equipment), using specialized equipment and techniques. Perform millwright and mechanical tasks required to install, assemble, disassemble or related machinery and equipment. Possess Class A CDL and drive tractor/trailer combinations, particularly flats, drops, tilt-beds and other specialized trailers with both legal and OW/OD loads. Position subject to overtime which at times could be considerable.   Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Reports to Operations Manager with initial report to Job Lead or Project Manager.  * Move large or heavy objects into desired positions, or control movements of machinery or equipment through narrow openings, confined or elevated spaces or along routes that present technical or logistical challenges to the movement of these objects.  * Ability to select proper equipment such as slings, shackles, tools, equipment, and devices based on calculations of weights, tensions and loads and basic weight and center-of gravity estimates.  * Knowledge and proper application of rigging tools, equipment and devices including safe use, practices, inspections, handling, and storage.  * Properly and safely secure loads in transit including on/in transit including on/in trucks, containers, railcars, etc.  * Drive legal and specialized loads (OW/OD) using flats, drops, tilt-beds and other specialized trailers.  * Ability to use specialized lifting rigging and moving equipment including lift trucks, hoists, gantries, trailers, cranes, jacks, dollies, skates, winches, etc. safely and efficiently.  * Read and understand basic load charts for lift trucks, cranes, and other rigging equipment.  * Visually signal or verbally direct others engaged in hoisting or moving lads for safe movement.  * Align and level machinery using precision levels and straightedges.  * Perform or assist in performing matchmarking, dismantling, erection, assembly or relocation of machinery or equipment.  * Hand tools commensurate with the position.   Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education): * High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. * 0-3 Years Rigging/Machinery Moving experience  * CDL License Class A or ability to attain. * Good understanding of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words; and correct grammatical structure. * Ensure compliance with safe rigging practices at every step of process.  * Complete documents and paperwork as required such as Job Leader Reports, Bills of Lading, time sheets, additional work authorizations, etc.  * Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive environment and relationships.  * Contribute to the goals of the company.  * Be approachable, open-minded, and strong sense of responsibility; passionate about work.   Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Job will require some time working in standard office environment including work at a computer terminal. Most time will be spent walking and coordinating in the field.  Ability to lift to 100 lbs. Ability to push/pull tools or equipment up to 200 lbs. Ability to carry tools or equipment up to 100 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach overhead, and must be able to climb.
