Description

The Machining Operator is responsible for the machining of high-value precious or non-precious metals/ingots into sputtering targets used in semiconductor and coating applications. The role requires skilled operation of CNC lathe and milling machines to produce components to exact specifications, ensuring high quality, tight tolerances, and material accountability. The operator will following detailed process work instructions, engineering drawings, and safety protocols, while contributing to efficient production flow and continuous process improvements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operate and set up CNC/manual lathe and milling machines to machine sputtering targets from precious or non-precious metal materials.
2. Perform precision turning, milling, drilling, facing, and finishing of target components to specified tolerances.
3. Follow engineering drawings, process work instructions and SOPs to ensure accuracy and repeatability in machining processes.
4. Conduct in-process and final dimensional inspections using callipers, micrometres, gauges, or other precision measurement tools for dimension and material weight measurement.
5. Handle, weigh, and document precious metal material with strict traceability and accountability.
6. Work closely with Engineers and quality teams to troubleshoot machining or process issues.
7. Ensure workplace cleanliness , contamination control, and compliance with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) standards.
8. Maintain accurate production and quality records in ERP systems.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for machining efficiency, material utilization, and process capability.
