Description General Carbide in Greensburg, PA is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Shift differentials are offered for 2nd and 3rd shifts. General Carbide is a leader in the manufacturing of finished tooling and wear parts for customers in more than two dozen market segments. Our facilities include: HAAS, Mazak, Doosan, Kellenbergers, Rollomatics, CNC Lathe and Mill, EDM Wire/RAM; just to name a few. All employees have the opportunity to learn and be cross-trained between machines and departments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Can set up and run various types of CNC and Manual Equipment. Has basic knowledge of “G” and “M” code programming and can write basic programs. Can interpret and edit CNC programs created by engineering when necessary. Efficiently operates multiple types of equipment with minimal supervision. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and have a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T). Is able to grind most forms required, maintaining specified tolerances. Checks all incoming work and completed work using advanced measuring techniques and gauging devices, maintaining all tolerances specified. Accurately enters information related to the finishing department into the computer. Performs routine maintenance and keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly; in accordance with the 5-S standards. Responsible for tools and fixtures used in work area. Requirements: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required 3–5 years of experience as a machinist Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; items over 100 pounds or awkward loads must be lifted by two employees or with mechanical assistance.
Responsibilities
The machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating various CNC and manual equipment, including writing and editing basic G and M code programs.
