Description

Vesco has an exciting opportunity for a Machinist/CNC Operator to join our team. The Machinist/CNC Operator will safely and accurately perform a variety of machining functions which supports the production and servicing of electrical switchgear and controls that are primarily used by electric utilities and steel producing companies.

Main Job Duties

  • Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading drawings and specifications
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality and the longevity of the machines
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, sander/grinders, etc. as necessary
  • Maintain tools, equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Perform duties in accordance with the Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems and required with the appropriate PPE
  • Ability to work independently
  • Adhere to all company policies, guidelines, and practices

Additional Duties

  • Assist with training of less experienced machinists
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/management

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Proven experience as CNC operator
  • Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Results-driven approach
  • Good communication abilities
  • Ability to work in a cohesive team environment
  • Must be able to read, speak and write English

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years CNC machining experience
  • Experience and proficiency with CNC mills, Haas experience preferred
  • Knowledge or experience with Mastercam software a plus
  • Manual mill knowledge
  • Ability to write or edit CNC programs
  • Ability to read and understand drawings

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
