Responsibilities Major responsibilities are listed but not necessarily limited to the following duties: Operating grinding machine (30” wheel). Select grinding wheels (30” dia.) according to knowledge of metal properties and abrasives. Grind roll up to 2,000mm dia., 14,000mm length. Organize, plan and prioritize work. Read work order and production schedules to determine specifications. Perform wheel changes. Mount wheels to hub. Make roll measurements and roll track measurements. Maintain close tolerance (microns). Use and maintain a variety of precision measuring / inspection equipment Check roll diameters. Make hardness and smoothness checks. Remove dummy heads Select drivers and shoes for job. Perform daily machine/equipment maintenance including routine oil and filter changes and greasing machine and maintain equipment service records. Attention to detail and good work ethic. Complete daily paperwork. Follow good housekeeping practice, keep area clean and organized.   Qualifications/Education Seeking a grinder with at least 3 – 5 years’ of manual machining experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and use tape measures, calipers and micrometers, including metric measurements. Familiarity with: run out, taper, surface finish, tolerance and blueprint reading. Computer skills required for communication and work creation purposes. Good mechanical aptitude and mechanical experience with good working knowledge and experience with powered hand tools. Some knowledge of hydraulics helpful. Experience using lift trucks and overhead cranes desired. Must be able to lift 50-60 lbs. and work up to 12 hour shift on concrete floor. Ability to train for operation of all machines.
