Description Position Scope The Machinist is responsible for machining, repairing, and rebuilding Caterpillar and customer components to meet manufacturer specifications and quality standards. This role supports Stowers Machinery’s commitment to safety, reliability, and precision by producing high-quality parts and components that ensure equipment performance and customer satisfaction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Machine new parts and repair worn or damaged components to meet tolerances and specifications Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and Caterpillar service documentation Measure, inspect, and verify dimensions using precision measuring tools Perform component teardown, inspection, machining, and reassembly as required Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, measurements, and quality checks Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements Maintain tooling, machines, and work area in a clean, organized, and safe condition Communicate machining needs, issues, and recommendations with supervisors and team members Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and safety Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong working knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and materials Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications Proficiency using precision measuring instruments Basic mathematical skills related to machining and tolerances Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and adjust processes as needed Effective communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required Technical certificate or apprenticeship in machining preferred Previous experience as a machinist or in a component rebuild environment preferred Experience machining heavy equipment or industrial components a plus Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, oils, and metal particles Use of required PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection
Responsibilities
Responsible for machining, repairing, and rebuilding Caterpillar and customer components to meet manufacturer specifications. This includes performing teardowns, inspections, and reassembly while maintaining accurate quality documentation.
