Description

SUMMARY: The Machinist III is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and modifying aviation accessories using advanced machining in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prioritize aviation accessories for repair to meet on-time delivery and production deadlines.
  • Apply specialty coatings to aviation accessories as required per work instructions or engineering directives.
  • Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.
  • Operate CNC mill and lathe machines to manufacture or repair aviation accessories to precise specifications.
  • Develop and duplicate tooling using engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Document maintenance and repair work performed in accordance with FAA and company requirements.
  • Inspect work completed on aviation components to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges daily.
  • Weld using ARC, MIG, and TIG techniques; operate oxygen/acetylene and plasma torches.
  • Operate manual shop equipment including:
  • Lathes and milling machines
  • Band saws and cut-off saws
  • Bench grinders and belt sanders
  • Drill presses and other machine shop tools
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of shop supplies and tooling to support daily operations.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge and safe operation of all tools and equipment within assigned work areas.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering to resolve non-conformances.
  • Adhere to FAA Part 145 Repair Station standards and all company safety protocols.
  • Operate a forklift as needed to support production and materials handling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (INCLUDES EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES), ETC.):

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technical degree (A&P)
  • 4+ years of manual machinist experience
  • OR an additional 3 years of machinist experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong understanding of machining requirements.
  • Proficient and skilled in using precision measurement instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high level of accuracy and quality.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (INCLUDES PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES), ETC.):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of machinist experience.
