Description The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. The machinist ensures that manufactured components meet strict quality standards and tolerances while maintaining safety and efficiency in the workplace. Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) to manufacture precision parts. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations, sequence, and dimensions. Measure, examine, and test completed parts to ensure they meet specifications using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges). Monitor machine operations, adjusting settings and tooling as needed to maintain quality and efficiency. Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on machines and equipment. Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job. Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to resolve production issues. Document production data, quality checks, and maintenance activities as required Requirements Skills Required Proven experience as a machinist (manual and/or CNC). Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and shop mathematics. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents. Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and tools. Basic computer skills for inputting production data. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and mechanical aptitude. Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in machining preferred. Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training is an asset.
