Unit Summary The Logistics portfolio provides integrated supply chain and transportation support for the procurement and distribution of goods across Hamilton Health Sciences’ sites, including but not limited to: Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, Hamilton General Hospital, St. Peter's, West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and McMaster sites. Primary functions include shipping and receiving functions, ordering, replenishment and oversight of the cart management system supporting the JIT supply chain activities, inventory management and optimization and inter hospital transportation and mail services. As well, Logistics manages formal relationships with several GPO's and other strategic alliances. Position Summary The Mail Room Aide functions as part of the Mail Services team at the Hamilton General, Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Center and McMaster Hospital sites. The responsibilities include sorting and processing of inbound and outbound mail through both Canada Post and other mail/courier service agreements, including the operation of the mail meter equipment. Schedule Work Hours Monday - Fridays, Days 1. High School, minimum Grad 10. 2. Good comprehension of English language in both oral and written formats. 3. Basic computer skills; use of MS Excel for month end reporting task, Internet search functions such as postal codes, etc. 4. Understanding of geographic locations, ie, cities, provinces, countries 5. Strong customer service focus supported by organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. 6. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures and directions. 7. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. 8. Physical capability to work in the mail services environment - constant standing, walking, pushing, pulling of carts and totes, lifting up to 25 lbs., working above shoulder and below waist level, for extended periods, repetitive use of hands (principally during mail sorting) some keyboarding required.
