Learn more on dxc.com Mainframe CICS & MQ Systems Programmer (z/OS):- You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, and security of IBM CICS Transaction Server and IBM MQ on z/OS. This role ensures high availability, resilience, and optimal performance for mission‑critical workloads, leveraging CICSPlex SM for multi‑region management and automation. Key Responsibilities Platform Engineering & Lifecycle Management Install, Upgrade, and Maintain IBM CICS TS and IBM MQ using SMP/E. Configure and customize CICS regions (TOR/AOR/FOR) and manage CICSPlex SM for workload balancing, routing, and centralized administration. Configure MQ Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Clusters, and Queue Sharing Groups. Maintain technical documentation and automation artifacts for deployments and recovery. Performance, Capacity & Reliability Monitor and tune CICS regions and MQ subsystems using RMF/SMF, OMEGAMON, Sysview or equivalent. Analyse and resolve complex incidents (dump analysis, abends, queue depth anomalies, channel failures). Design and test high‑availability patterns using CICSPlex SM and MQ clustering; participate in Disaster Recovery exercises. Integration & Developer Enablement Define and manage CICS resources (programs, transactions, URIMAPs, PIPELINEs) and MQ objects (queues, topics, channels). Provide technical guidance to application teams on CICS-MQ integration and performance‑aware design. Collaborate with z/OS System Programmers, Db2 DBA’s, Security, and Network teams for end‑to‑end reliability. Security, Compliance & Automation Implement RACF/ACF2 security for CICS regions and MQ resources. Build automation and alerting (REXX, JCL, z/OSMF workflows) to improve resiliency and reduce manual effort. Required Qualifications Expertise in IBM CICS TS architecture, configuration, and tuning on z/OS. Strong knowledge of CICSPlex SM for multi‑region management. In‑depth knowledge of IBM MQ administration on z/OS. Strong z/OS fundamentals: JCL, TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, JES2, SMF/RMF. Proficiency in scripting/automation (REXX, JCL; z/OSMF desirable). Familiarity with DB2, IMS, and performance tooling (OMEGAMON, Sysview). Preferred Experience MQ/CICS integration for high‑volume workloads. Advanced dump analysis and coordination with IBM support. Exposure to modern patterns (APIs, cloud‑adjacent integration, Java/COBOL services). Core Competencies Analytical problem solving under pressure.
