MAINFRAME COBOL DEVELOPER, ASSEMBLER:

On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for a Mainframe Cobol Developer, Assembler for a 3-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

MAINFRAME COBOL DEVELOPER, ASSEMBLER - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The project involves working on a signature banking project with a focus on private banking business lines for high-net-worth clients. The role includes supporting application solutions for the Canadian business line, collaborating with multiple teams to deliver requirements for regulatory and compliance platforms.

MAINFRAME COBOL DEVELOPER, ASSEMBLER - MANDATORY SKILLS:

• 10+ years of Assembler experience
• 10+ years of experience in mainframe development using Cobol, including JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, Netron, VSAM, CICS, CA7, SAS, SDSF
• 5+ years’ experience with Security and environment control systems (Endevor, ACF2), Problem Analysis (Fault Analyzer), Database Management (e.g. IMS, DB2, VSAM)
• 5+ years’ experience in Utilities and productivity tools (e.g. MVS/TSO, ACR, COMPAREX, SYNCSORT, IDCAMS, CRF, File Manager)
• 5+ years’ strong experience of DB2 database, z/OS Debugger, DFSORT, JCL, and COBOL

MAINFRAME COBOL DEVELOPER, ASSEMBLER – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

• Understanding of File Transfer protocols and processes (FTP, SFTP, PGP Encryption)
• Understanding mainframe integration for ETL processing
• Experience and knowledge of DevOps
• Experience and knowledge of web services and APIs
• Experience and knowledge of web and cloud (Azure) technologies

• Lead various development projects and support application solutions
• Act as an expert technical resource for problem analysis and solution implementation
• Champion a customer-focused culture and deepen client relationships
• Interact with business clients to resolve system questions and issues
• Provide analysis and coding support for host applications and infrastructure implementations
• Mentor junior developers on best practices
• Implement new systems or enhancements and provide ongoing production support
• Participate in 24x7 pager rotation for application support
