Responsibilities

YOUR NEW ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We’re looking for an experienced Mainframe DB2 Application Administrator / DBA to join our team. You’ll be responsible for managing and optimizing DB2 for z/OS environments, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability across mission-critical systems.
This role involves close collaboration with application development teams, automation of operational tasks, and implementation of robust backup and recovery strategies. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining data integrity, enforcing security protocols, and supporting application deployments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and support DB2 for z/OS environments, focusing on application performance, reliability, and regular database health checks and maintenance.
  • Create and manage database objects (e.g. tablespaces, tables, indexes, packages) and run DB2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG, RUNSTATS) for physical maintenance.
  • Collaborate with developers to optimise SQL queries and indexing strategies, perform performance tuning, and ensure data integrity best practices are upheld.
  • Automate tasks using JCL, REXX, COBOL, and Python; deploy application releases and troubleshoot related issues.
  • Monitor tablespace capacity, implement RACF-based security protocols, manage backup and disaster recovery procedures, and maintain technical documentation.
