Overview
Our company is looking to add a Mainframe Systems/Customer Support Engineer to their Support team. This role focuses on helping customers succeed with our mainframe and mainframe modernization products by delivering technical support, pre-sales guidance, and training. You will be the front line for inbound technical issues and a partner to Sales in demonstrating how our solutions meet client needs. While the role is primarily customer-facing, it requires strong mainframe systems programming experience and the ability maintain and evolve our non-production, z/OS-based development/test environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support related:
· Triage incoming issues from customers or other Adaptigent employees and assign to appropriate team member for review.
· Reproduce problems as needed to create documentation on the reported issues.
· Provide effective communication with customers to request information needed for meaningful troubleshooting.
· Supply code or procedural samples matching customer requests or in resolution to customer issues.
· Document tickets with findings, references, and next steps and relevant details provided by customers.
· Escalate problems as needed with the Development team via standard procedures.
· Review problems escalated to development team regularly and communicate with customers as needed.
· Write knowledgebase articles on for better customer understanding of product capabilities.
· Support Sales efforts with Proof-of-concept projects, license keys, enforcing terms & conditions, migration planning & support, upsells and solution review.
· Assist in evaluation of prospective customers’ requirements vs product capabilities with Sales.
· Provide innovative solutions for existing and prospective customers to utilize product capabilities.
· Monitor SLA requirements for customer tickets and make timely updates.
· Assist Development/QA team with product testing as needed
Mainframe related:
· Install, configure, and maintain z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE, and z/Linux environments
· Manage mainframe subsystems: CICS, IMS, TCP/IP, VTAM, RACF, AT-TLS
· Configure and support multi-guest systems in z/VM and communications virtualization
· Troubleshoot subsystem and integration issues in support of internal teams
· Test compatibility and performance of Adaptigent and third-party products in mainframe environments
· Document system configurations and procedures
· Evaluate and integrate new tools, utilities, and methodologies as needed
