Description Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic B ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Maintenance Mechanic B will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. The general purpose of the Maintenance Mechanic B is to do daily machine inspections, Communicate with operators on a daily bases about maintenance issues, Daily preventative maintenance on equipment, Communicate issues on equipment to the maintenance Manager, Supervisor, or lead. Perform other daily tasks that they are assigned. Daily rounds communicating with operators about issues they may have with the equipment. Understanding the Operators are the maintenance department’s customers. Work in a safe manner, always following OSHA and Company safety rules. Be aware of safety issues when or potential safety issues when going through the plant. Lead by example when working safe. Work well with other employees and maintain a positive attitude when discussing a break down with other employees or when given work assignments. Demonstrate teamwork towards your fellow employees and management. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Physical Demands Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee if regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste and smell. The employee will frequently lift 10 to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus). Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee will occasionally be exposed to work in high, precarious places, caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required on the production floor. Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
