JOB SUMMARY

The Finishing Barn Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the barn and ensuring the well-being of all animals. This position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of animal care, and the ability to manage farm machinery and equipment. The Barn Manager will fill half their day being responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient environment while fostering a positive atmosphere for staff and visitors. The other half of the day they will be required to maintenance and upkeep of the barn facilities. You will assist the sow barn manager and help him with his duties and and work alongside each other daily to complete daily tasks and projects.

SKILLS

  • Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair farm machinery effectively.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Experience with farm machinery operation and maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with staff, visitors, and veterinarians.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $19.00-$28.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 30 – 60 per week

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily care and feeding of animals, ensuring their health and welfare.
  • Manage barn operations, including scheduling staff and coordinating tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of barn facilities and surrounding areas.
  • Perform regular inspections of farm machinery, ensuring proper maintenance and safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist with heavy lifting tasks related to feed, bedding, and equipment as needed.
  • Implement safety procedures to protect staff and animals from potential hazards.
  • Train new staff members on proper animal handling techniques and barn procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records related to animal health, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Repair, replace and update barn equipment.
