Responsibilities
  1. To carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the individual’s capability in all areas of the home as requested by employees and the Home Manager.
  2. To understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, Infection Control to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.
  3. To carry out specific maintenance and regular safety checks (including fire and water temperature) keeping accurate, up to date records of the checks. Reporting any deficiencies to the Home Manager and following these up.
  4. To respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents’ needs and requirements into your work routine so that the Home is pleasant to both live and work.
  5. To liaise with the Home Manager ensuring the care home is maintained in good decorative order, the Home environment is comfortable, friendly and has a ‘homely’ feel for the residents.
  6. To be responsible for managing and controlling the maintenance budget for the home.
  7. To liaise with external contractors entering the home when carrying out authorised work to ensure that all requirements relating to Health and Safety and the Health & Social Care Act 2008 legislation are fully met.
  8. To undertake basic redecoration projects e.g. bedrooms & hallways, with work including, but not exclusive to, wallpaper stripping, wall preparation/sanding, paintwork - walls and woodwork, wallpapering etc.
  9. To maintain the grounds and garden areas, keeping them in a neat, tidy and safe condition.
  10. To be approachable and interactive with colleagues, contributing to team meetings and helping team members as appropriate. Ensure that the Home is a friendly and supportive caring environment.
  11. To assist the Manager and staff by taking and picking up prescriptions (and samples) to and from the Pharmacy/GP Surgery.
  12. To attend mandatory training, and any other training deemed appropriate, as required.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: From £12.21 per hour
    Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
