Description

We maintain seventeen schools in the Cornwall area; these range from one large secondary school and sixteen primary schools. Due to team growth and revised structures, we require a results driven manager to join our team. We operate in a challenging but rewarding PFI environment and work closely with various stakeholders to deliver maintenance services across the estate. Our office is in Redruth and the sites are all within 35 to 40 minutes or less of a commute.
In the role of Maintenance and Compliance Manager, you will manage a team of mobile trades people and subcontractors to deliver a best in class and compliant maintenance function. The usual hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, however there will be a requirement to be flexible with this according to the contract demands. There is also a call out rota that you will be expected to participate in.

What is the role about exactly? We are restructuring the operation and have increased the size of the team, we are looking for a manager to maintain and improve standards where necessary by engaging with your maintenance, FM colleagues and all stakeholders.

Your typical day may involve:

  • Oversight and management of the PPM Planner, ensuring Statutory and Mandatory Compliance
  • Reviewing Worksheets and managing remedial activities
  • Uploading of certification and ensuring the team complete their administrative actions.
  • H&S management of staff and subcontractors
  • Scheduling the mobile workforce and ensuring cover is in place.
  • Working with the FM team to plan and prioritise the reactive task.
  • Working with the PM team to support planned works projects
  • Day to day management of the team and associated HR tasks
  • Undertake site audits to improve standards.
  • Support with the preparation and undertaking of stakeholder audits.
  • Administration of vehicle check forms.
  • Manage the on-call rota.
  • Participate in training and undertake AP duties upon appointment (up to two roles)
  • Manage the training matrix for your team.
  • Support the Account Director with ad hoc and routine reporting requests.
  • Liaise with the CAFM and Data team to validate maintenance data.
  • Work collaboratively with the finance team in relation to maintenance activities.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and support Mitie with social value initiatives.
  • Foster a can-do approach within your team to provide a high standard of customer satisfaction (evidenced through surveys and feedback from schools and stakeholders)
  • Being flexible in your working if an early or later start is required (early / later finish)

What we are looking for:

A strong communicator that is organised and able to lead a team of multi trade operatives within a FM environment, any technical qualifications and experience of School maintenance or PFI would be highly desirable.

  • Experience of FM.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment.
  • Preferably a minimum of IOSH Supervising or Managing Safely.
  • Preferably a Technical qualification or evidence of further education in a related discipline
  • Demonstrate self-management and drive completion of tasks down each month.
  • Confident, pro-active, and good time management
  • Able and wanting to do the job right and do it right first time, within a pre-determined timescale.
  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • Reviewing and writing and following risk and method statements as required on an as required basis.
  • Ability to record work accurately on work sheets and computer-based systems.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
  • Wanting to achieve success, for yourself, the business, and the customer.
  • Flexible approach to work and working hours (subject to the EU Working Time Directive).
  • Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company, in the most professional manner possible, utilising the uniform and PPE issued.
  • Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to travel to sites, full UK Driving license required.
  • An enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
