POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking to fill a full-time, permanent position of Maintenance and Facility Support, which includes a comprehensive benefits package and pension plan. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (40 hrs/week).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Broad knowledge of institutional maintenance and facilities management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of various heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver’s licence and must be bondable.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to deal courteously and appropriately with residents, staff, guests and all external contacts.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Considerable walking, stretching, bending, and lifting (50 lbs).
  • Ability to withstand environmental extremes, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (low ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, etc.).
  • Ability to work with various chemicals, gases, and compounds, as required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance to the facility and various equipment, mechanical systems, and appliances.
  • Complete a variety of general repair work, including light carpentry, minor plumbing, and basic electrical maintenance.
  • Assist with furniture moves, office setups, workstation adjustments, etc.
  • Assist with general facility upkeep, including receiving deliveries, replacing lightbulbs, distributing supplies, and cleaning exterior windows and other surfaces as needed.
  • Support maintenance supervisor in large-scale repairs and projects.
  • Cut and trim lawns and maintain gardens, shrubs, trees, walking paths, etc., to enhance and preserve the natural beauty of the grounds.
  • Perform snow and ice removal in winter.
  • Perform various deliveries and pick-ups on a scheduled basis.
  • Complete housekeeping and kitchen duties and responsibilities, as necessary; duties may include, and are not limited to, the following: washing floors, cleaning rooms, washing dishes, setting tables, etc.
  • Safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of all staff and clients.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety throughout the organization.
  • Carry out other assignments and tasks within the scope of this position as may be assigned from time to time.
