MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT – MOTEL 6 AND DAYS INN & SUITES / RENTAL UNITS

The upcoming Motel 6 and our established Days Inn & Suites / Rental Units are central to delivering outstanding guest experiences in the area. As Motel 6 prepares to open its doors, we expect it to follow in the footsteps of the Days Inn & Suites, which has earned top guest satisfaction ratings. These results are largely due to the dedication and guest-focused approach of our team, particularly in the Maintenance department.
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continued success of both properties by maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning environment. You will assist in the upkeep, repair, and overall appearance of all facilities, both inside and outside.

This role involves providing general support at Motel 6, along with occasional assistance at Days Inn & Suites and our rental units. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with emergency systems and procedures
  • Maintaining the interior and exterior appearance of the properties
  • Pool and hot tub maintenance
  • Minor repairs and maintenance tasks (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
  • Surface repair and upkeep (ceilings, walls, floors, windows)
  • Carpet cleaning and window care
  • Managing garbage and recycling
  • Assisting in other ad-hoc maintenance tasks as needed

The ideal candidate will have a range of skills and abilities, including but not limited to:

  • Basic safety and emergency preparedness knowledge
  • Experience with minor repairs (drywall, lighting, plumbing, locks, etc.)
  • A valid pool and spa maintenance certificate is highly desirable but not required
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to identify maintenance issues before they affect guest satisfaction
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to resolve issues quickly and effectively

Physical demands include walking extensively, some lifting and bending, carrying, and occasional outdoor work in varying weather. You should be comfortable working in confined spaces and on ladders (roof, attic, etc.).
In addition to physical work, the role requires you to manage competing priorities and solve problems creatively, often without prior experience. You’ll need to conduct research and seek solutions to challenges that arise.
Clear and effective communication with guests, coworkers, contractors, and suppliers is essential. You will also need to be proactive in identifying safety concerns and ensuring they are addressed to maintain a safe environment for all.
This position is key to supporting our mission of providing a pleasant and safe experience for guests, team members, and contractors alike. Your contributions will directly support the high standards that have helped both properties thrive.
Cost-consciousness is important—tasks should be completed efficiently and within budget. You will regularly consult with supervisors and vendors to ensure the work is done in the most cost-effective manner.
This position reports to the General Manager of both properties, and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
