Title: Maintenance Associate, Full-time (40 hrs./wk.) Report to: Operations Manager  Location: Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Spirituality Retreat Center, Venice FL Classification: Hourly/Nonexempt    Overview The Maintenance Associate is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Manager in the ‘hands on’ maintenance and care of all buildings and grounds at the retreat center site. Perform basic maintenance and repairs on facility infrastructure, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and commercial kitchen equipment. The job requires a wide range of problem-solving skills and a passion for making things work and look great. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a team environment, enjoys a variety of tasks, and takes pride in keeping maintenance operations running smoothly. The work schedule may include weekends, holidays, and ‘on call’ status on a shared rotation basis.   Job Responsibilities * Familiarity with basic electrical, plumbing and air conditioning repairs in order to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair / refer to vendor, * Safely operate and maintain machinery (power tools, motorized equipment, hand tools, lawn equipment, etc.), * Skilled in areas of painting, flooring, carpentry, landscaping, and general property repairs and maintenance, * Troubleshoot and resolve facility and equipment issues using proper tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment. * Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools, meters, and standard maintenance equipment. * Pressure wash buildings and sidewalks. * Proactively identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to reduce downtime. * Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks in various environmental conditions. * Maintain all common areas, facilities, and amenities, including restrooms and laundry rooms. * Maintain the property through lawn care and landscaping—treating weeds, raking leaves, planting flowers/shrubs, and trimming as needed. * Follow and complete a preventative maintenance schedule. * Maintain all maintenance and ground equipment to ensure cleanliness, reliability, and readiness. * Ensures service requests are completed correctly and in a timely manner. * Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies to ensure 24/7 support for on-site guests. * Work closely with the on-site management team to maintain the property’s condition and assist with larger maintenance projects as needed. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently. * Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, ADA, fire codes). * Conduct regular safety audits and identify hazards to be corrected. * Active member of emergency preparedness plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and disaster recovery. * Assist Maintenance Manager with various other tasks as assigned.      Qualifications * High School diploma or equivalent. * Must be a positive team member. * Ability to communicate clearly with vendors, staff, and retreat visitors. * Working knowledge of building equipment. * Efficient time management and ability to prioritize tasks. * Understanding of safety protocols and disposal of hazardous waste items. * Competent using MS Office applications. * Excellent communications skills both written and oral / basic math skills. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. * Ability to climb, bend, kneel, twist, push, pull continuously throughout day. * Valid driver’s license. * Must pass a DOV assigned post offer physical exam.
