This hybrid role supports both custodial services and routine maintenance in a long-term care/senior living setting. Our ideal candidate understands the importance of working in residents’ homes with professionalism, respect, and compassion. Training will be provided for all equipment and systems. Compensation $18.00 – $23.00 per hour, based on experience and education Schedule & On-Call Day shift -flexible start and end time Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency maintenance needs Benefits We offer a comprehensive benefits package, which may include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays 403(b) with employer match Life and disability insurance Free Employee Meals Key Responsibilities Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout the community Repair minor plumbing issues to prevent water damage and maintain safe living conditions Complete interim carpet cleaning and spot treatments between scheduled professional services Operate and maintain floor-cleaning equipment in hallways, dining areas, and high-traffic common spaces Apply preventative measures to building systems and equipment to reduce safety risks Assist the Grounds Department as needed, including seasonal tasks Snow removal at entrances and walkways to ensure resident and visitor safety Paint and touch up interior/exterior surfaces as needed Coordinate with nursing, social services, and department managers to move furniture in resident rooms and community areas Set up and break down tables and chairs for resident activities, family events, and staff functions Drive to pick up maintenance materials and supplies Rotate trash and recycling dumpsters daily; power wash as needed Follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) Respond to on-call maintenance emergencies in a timely and professional manner Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification preferred Experience working in a long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, or senior housing setting preferred Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems 0–2 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, facilities, or related technical field Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding cleaning and maintenance tasks Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team Professional demeanor when interacting with residents and families Valid driver’s license required
Responsibilities
This role is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, repairing minor plumbing issues, operating floor-cleaning equipment, and assisting with groundskeeping tasks like snow removal. The custodian will also manage waste disposal, paint surfaces, and set up/break down event furniture while maintaining a safe and clean environment for residents.
