Description POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in servall capacities, including but not limited to cleaning, maintenance, building and equipment repair, grounds keeping and do other related work as required. Provide security for facility during unoccupied hours. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance/Custodian Technician must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation: Performs custodial and janitorial duties within assigned City of Grants buildings, empties trash cans, dusts, and cleans offices, cleans gyms, cleans kitchens, restrooms, including dusting books, cabinets, shelves, walls and furniture while attending to the neatness and sanitation of buildings or equipment. Scrubs, strips, mops, buffs, and waxes floors using scrubbing machine; washes windows and shampoos rugs using shampooing machine; uses cleaning fluids, chemical and protective equipment to clean, sanitize, and deodorize all areas assigned. Sweeps hallways, gyms and building entrances; may assist in moving office furniture and fixtures; performs general clean-up of grounds; uses common tools, such as hammer, drill, screwdriver, ladder, etc. Operates power driven machinery, such as grout hog, scrubbers, vacuum sweepers, carpet shampoo machines, push mower, lawn tractor, line trimmer, and blower, performs minor repairs on cleaning equipment. Applies cleaning agents, graffiti removal chemicals and painting when needed. Push/pull with approximately 75 pounds of strength to use lawn mower, wheel barrow, floor buffer, etc. Pull weeds, trim shrubbery and grass around walkways, sidewalks, and buildings as assigned. Perform routine maintenance such as repairing and painting benches, tables, guard rails as scheduled or assigned. Repair and maintains tools and equipment as scheduled or assigned. May assist in the general maintenance, construction and repair of various City of Grants facilities. Remove litter or debris from parks and public grounds and maintain facilities during special events which includes cleaning of restrooms, picking up trash, and emptying trash receptacles. During the evening hours of Recreation Department will oversee the safety of the building, public usage, recreation programs, and responsible for securing and locking up the facility. Perform all job functions with special attention to good public relations, safety, health, and proper procedures. Adheres to safety practices and standards, attends safety meetings and trainings. Availability to work occasional weekends, holidays, or other irregular hours. Follow a specific work schedule as directed. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES OR JOB REQUIREMENTS: Completes personal timesheet accurately and timely; clocks in and out through time-clock plus system daily/weekly and ensures time is reported on actual time worked. Snow removal, weed-eating, mowing as needed. Ensures that any on-the-job injury is reported immediately to Supervisor and Director; ensures compliance with all City of Grants Policies and Procedures. Ensures any reports of harassment are immediately reported so appropriate actions are taken. Reports any suspected fraud and/or abuse to the Director or City Manager. Assists in inventory of supplies, building and grounds. The above statements are not a complete list of all responsibilities and duties performed by employees in this job. As a condition of employment, employees are required to perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Must have oral and written communication skills in English. One-year experience maintenance/janitorial preferred or the ability to learn the job through on the job training. Knowledge of proper sequence of activities required to perform the job. Valid NM Driver’s license and have and maintain a good driving record; pass a background and pre-employment drug test.
