Our Road Maintenance Team is looking for a Department Manager to join the team based at the Fulton Hogan office in Alexandra. The role will require you to effectively manage your department ensuring that it is delivering quality work for our clients and our people.

As a Department Manager, you will:

  • Lead a team of staff to deliver maintenance and renewal activities throughout the Central Otago Region.
  • Overseeing pricing of work and preparation of tenders/quotes/estimates.
  • Drive and encourage a collaborative work environment with staff and stakeholders.
  • Be aware of and oversee contractual procedures for managing changes to scope of work for direct work and sub-contractor agreements.
  • Ensure reports, claims and programmes are prepared and submitted correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure forward planning, organising and ordering of contract subbies/survey/materials/plant/ people.
  • Ensure your department staff are provided with leadership and guidance to maximise performance.
  • Ensure the delivery of all work to required standards.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Sound experience in all facets of Civil engineering and application of maintenance activities.
  • Experience managing and developing teams (preferred).
  • Proven experience in managing and engaging stakeholders.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Clear communication, making sure requests are dealt with promptly and accurately.
  • High computer literacy.
  • A drive to supply a high level of service regionally while building a team environment.
