Position Overview:
Washington Senior Living is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Maintenance Director with proven expertise in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems. As a key leader for operations, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our facility’s systems and physical spaces. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in managing and troubleshooting multiple building systems and will have a proactive approach to maintenance and emergency repairs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-On Maintenance & Repairs: Manage and perform routine and emergency repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems. Troubleshoot and resolve issues to maintain continuous operations.
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Work with external vendors for specialized maintenance services, ensuring compliance with facility standards, and monitoring contract performance.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with building codes, health regulations, and life safety standards, especially in a healthcare environment.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan to reduce system failures and increase the lifespan of critical equipment.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues, ensuring minimal disruption to residents and staff.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Assist in managing maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while meeting operational goals.
  • Preform addition tasks as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Essential Skills: Proven experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Leadership: Strong team leadership and supervisory skills with a proven ability to motivate staff and manage multiple tasks.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
  • Prior Experience: Previous experience in facilities management and life safety, ideally in a healthcare or senior living setting, with a deep understanding of building systems and maintenance processes.
  • Certifications/Training: Relevant technical certifications or training in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or similar fields are strongly preferred.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in healthcare environments is a plus.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; further technical training or certifications in related trades is highly desirable.
