Description
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and automation systems within an automotive manufacturing environment. The role ensures maximum equipment uptime and production efficiency while maintaining compliance with the Ontario Electrical Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and company safety standards. Key Responsibilities: * Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, control panels, wiring, and related components for production machinery and automated equipment. * Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, PLC, and control issues on production lines, robotic systems, conveyors, and presses. * Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and automation systems to minimize downtime. * Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. * Calibrate and maintain sensors, drives, motors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). * Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery or production lines. * Ensure all work complies with the Ontario Electrical Code (OEC) and internal safety procedures. * Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance. * Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs. * Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and prioritize repairs to minimize production impact. To be a qualified candidate you must meet the following:  * Valid Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) as an Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) in Ontario. * Registered with Skilled Trades Ontario. * Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an industrial or automotive manufacturing environment. * Strong knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron preferred). * Familiarity with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, or KUKA) and automated assembly systems. * Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and control schematics. * Understanding of electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and OHSA regulations. * Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. * Ability to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as required. Work Environment: Automotive manufacturing plant setting (stamping, welding, assembly, or extrusion). Exposure to high noise levels, heat, and industrial machinery.
