DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION


  • Plant engineering oversees maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors through the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of building and grounds infrastructure and equipment.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Post high school vocational/specialized training and/or Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Four (4) years experience in the electrical/mechanical field of healthcare or industrial engineering required. Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of Drivers Privileges for SHS Vehicles application process required.
  • Electrical LME, Limited Energy, CFC Handling, Stationary Engineer, and/or Oregon Boiler/Pressure Vessel Class 3 licensure preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with federal, state, local rules and standards. Ability to safely and effectively use electrical and mechanical shop tools and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques used in electrical, mechanical and building maintenance. Ability to use a wide variety of test equipment and hand / power tools including cable testing equipment.
  • Knowledge and skills in one or more of the following trades: mechanical, welding, pneumatics, refrigeration, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing or steam fitting.
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints and facility schematics and utilize computer interfacing concepts including communications and components.
  • Knowledge and ability to trouble shoot and repair various physical plant systems and equipment. Ability to work with outside contractor to coordinate systems shutdowns and equipment repairs or services.
  • Ability to perform staff in-services education on various systems and equipment related to the physical plant.
