GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Senior Stations Maintenance Engineer (E4 level) is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to deliver estimating, planning, quality management, and design solutions for medium-complexity projects and operations. The role involves ensuring safety, quality, and budget compliance, while meeting schedule requirements.

WORK ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in power system design, maintenance, installation, or testing/commissioning of stations equipment is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following equipment areas:
  • Switchgear Equipment: MV and HV circuit breakers (up to 550kV), GIS/GIB, metal-clad switchgear, circuit switchers, disconnect switches, station service switchgear, and surge arresters.
  • Reactive Equipment: HV power transformers/GSUs, shunt reactors, CVTs/VTs/PTs, CTs, and station service transformers.
  • Generator Equipment: Stator, rotor, governor, excitor, brush gear, cooling system, bearing, and braking systems.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or eligible for registration in BC.
  • Must hold or have access to a Permit to Practice with EGBC (either sole practitioner or through an engineering firm).
  • Intermediate proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Proficient with CAD systems and drawing standards.
  • Experience using standard industry design and analysis software.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Responsibilities

ROLE: SENIOR STATIONS MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (REACTIVE EQUIPMENT)

Location: Edmonds, BC – In-office work required on Mondays and Thursdays; one site visit per month
Duration: 12 months
Max T4 Rate: $81.08/hour
Max INC Rate: $98.11/hour

EXPERIENCE AND ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a relevant engineering field.
  • Develop safe and effective engineering solutions using sound judgment and initiative for medium-complexity projects.
  • Perform tasks such as design development, problem analysis and resolution, and interpretation of engineering specifications.
  • Support project and operations management by contributing to planning, cost control, quality assurance, and schedule coordination.
  • Resolve complex design and field issues by conducting independent technical studies and analysis.
  • Provide recommendations and decisions on engineering methods and designs.
  • Contribute to the development of technical standards and provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineering staff.
