The location in Crofton, (British Columbia, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Maintenance Engineer Utilities. This job is full-time permanent.
The Crofton Division has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Utilities. The Maintenance Engineer’s responsibility is to maintain and improve the operating assets in the utilities area of the mill by providing technical support and executing asset inspection and maintenance programs.
The maintenance engineer will partner with operations, maintenance, purchasing and mill leaders to realize improved reliability in the Utilities Operation. The ideal candidate will build effective, trusting relationships and partnerships across the mill to execute the implementation of plans supporting the company’s strategic business direction.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Ability to understand requirements and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Advanced experience, knowledge and understanding of Owner Representative responsibilities and contractor safety management.
  • Ability to prioritize, make sound decisions, and resolve issues efficiently and effectively. Proven analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and time management skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the company.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team. High degree of collaboration with both Maintenance and Operations personnel.
  • Working knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Working knowledge of Planning and Scheduling Standards.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Project management skills

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of Maintenance Engineering, or Project experience.
  • Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Pressure Piping maintenance or design experience.
  • Knowledgeable using a Computerized Maintenance Management System or ability to learn.
  • Relevant Project Management experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Willingness to work extended hours to support plant outages.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellence in safety and environmental performance on all assigned activities and projects.
  • Provide maintenance engineering support including major asset and equipment rebuilds, technical assistance, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
  • Develop funding requests for maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Manage delivery of approved projects within commitments for project scope, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Prepare maintenance investment plans and spending forecasts.
  • Provide technical support on improvement initiatives.
  • Complete asset condition risk assessments and develop investment and risk mitigation plans.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend path forward to realized benefits.
  • Provide technical support with the development and execution of critical shutdown work.
  • Develop and manage the execution of major maintenance and shutdown work order packages.
  • Assemble quality control planning documents and manage as the work progresses.
