REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years (5 preferred) of hands-on experience with commercial kitchen equipment repair and maintenance:
  • Strong working knowledge of hot-side (grills, ovens, fryers, Microwaves) and cold-side (refrigeration, freezers, prep tables)
  • Beverage-side (Coffee brewers, espresso, coffee grinders) and related appliances.
  • Must be familiar with commercial electrical and gas systems (single phase 120, 208 & 3 phase 208.480 voltages)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and service manuals.
  • Proficient with basic hand tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Plumbing - Ability to diagnose plumbing issues accurately and determine effective solutions with understanding of plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, fittings and appliances. e.g. (commercial automatic flush valves and faucets, kitchen faucets and sprayers, hot water heaters, water filters and softener systems)
  • Carpentry, Paint, Tile, and Doors:
  • Ability to assess and do basic repairs to damaged wood cabinets, furniture, fixtures, laminates and counter tops, building façade and fascia,
  • Ability to assess and do basic painting repairs which includes cleaning, sanding, and patching holes and imperfections. Floor and wall tile. Building doors (ADA-compliant, manual, and partition doors).
  • To operate a company vehicle, the applicants MUST be a minimum of 25 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with high-volume environments (restaurants, schools, hospitals)
  • Strong communication and customer service.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and twist to perform normal job functions.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks while on a ladder.
  • Ability to operate equipment requires continual and repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Ability to be exposed to various climates ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Knowledge of CMMS software is helpful.
  • Certificate of completion of courses in the above-mentioned trades is recommended but not required.
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Inspect, diagnose and perform repairs and maintenance on all food service equipment.
  • Maintain small appliances, kitchen equipment, and minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Coordinate repairs within approved budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance schedule and records.
  • Travel to various Travel Plazas in NY (3) sites to repair and maintain all facility-related items.
  • Other duties as assigned.
